my face
rested
in my palms;
gazing downward
my mind is in
a race
or a rut
or drowning
in a river
of whiskey.
in this state
silence
sounds like
one thousand
trains, planes, cars,
crashing into
bass drums and cymbals.
how unbearable
the quiet
has become.
